VALE CHRIS CASERTA

It is with great sadness that we honour beloved jockey Chris Caserta after his sudden passing. First and foremost, we join the entire racing fraternity in sending our sincerest condolences to the Caserta family and our thoughts are with them at this tragic time.

Having relocated to the Gold Coast in recent times, Caserta had quickly established himself in the local riding ranks and forged close friendships with his fellow jockeys. Chris had recently commenced riding trackwork for the local Chris Waller stable and rode in a number of races for local trainers Kacy Fogden and Les Kelly.

Chris commenced his career as an apprentice in Victoria and rode over 150 winners across the nation.

On behalf of his colleagues and the Club our condolences go out to the Caserta family and we pay our respects to a happy and much loved young man lost to the industry too soon.

At tomorrow’s Race Meeting, the Club has arranged for black armbands to be worn in honour of Caserta and will observe a minute’s silence prior to Race 5 (TBC). To honour Chris’s proud Italian heritage, an Italian flag will be flown at half-mast.
