On behalf of the Board and GCTC Management Team, we can confirm that we are delighted at this week’s announcement from Racing Minister Stirling Hinchliffe for the long-awaited Track Upgrades, this paves the way for an exciting time in next few years at the Club.
Approved by the Treasurer, budgets have been locked in and the funding will be derived from three main sources; the Racing Infrastructure Fund (RIF), the Gold Coast Turf Club and Racing Queensland to deliver an all-weather synthetic track, an in-field tunnel, refurbishment of further racing surfaces and lights.
Scheduled to commence after the 2021 Magic Millions Carnival, the refurbishment will be a staged approach so we can continue to race throughout the redevelopment. Our preferred approach would be to commence with the synthetic track and in-field tunnel to have completed by March 2021. The completion of the tunnel will not only provide additional income streams for the Club but heightening safety for horses and jockeys at daily track work and on racedays.
This will be a massive boost for the Club, our Members, Gold Coast tourism, local jobs and the economy.

The Club continues to excel in taking on more metro racedays, the recent Pink Ribbon Cup Raceday on Saturday 19 September was a huge success. Its showcasing that the Gold Coast Turf Club is ready to give its Members, locals and visitors an unrivalled racing experience, on and off track.

The announcement has just come in from the NBCF, and after the year that has been 2020, we are all absolutely thrilled to receive this news. Thank you to all who could be here on track or those at home that helped celebrate the opener to the Queensland Spring Racing Carnival. We had Winning Member Greg Millard that walked away with $10,000 cash from the Members Badge Draw and also member Nick Di Tommaso who won his weight in beer from the Pink Ribbon Cup raffle.
