GCTC recruits Nevesh Ramdhani to oversee track redevelopment

Nevesh Ramdhani is poised to take up a role with the Gold Coast Turf Club.

The Gold Coast Turf Club has landed a major coup ahead of its $38 million track redevelopment, with the recruitment of respected racecourse manager Nevesh Ramdhani.

Ramdhani will join the GCTC in May 2022 to oversee the club’s major development, which commences in May this year with the construction of a new all-weather synthetic track for racing.

Ramdhani brings a wealth of experience to the table having been the Australian Turf Club’s General Manager of Racecourses since 2019 and the Racecourse Manager at Royal Randwick for eight years prior to that.

Gold Coast Turf Club CEO Steve Lines said Ramdhani was the perfect man to help take the club into the future with the execution of its 10-year masterplan.

“Nevesh has done a tremendous job in overseeing the four major racecourses in Sydney in recent years,” said Lines.

“The Gold Coast Turf Club is on the cusp of a major redevelopment, and we see Nevesh as being the perfect man of the job to help us execute what is a huge body of work over the next few years.

“We are really excited to have recruited someone with Nevesh’s experience in the niche industry of racecourse management and we can’t wait to get him on board.”

Ramdhani said he was looking forward to the fresh challenge in assisting with the GCTC’s major redevelopment, which includes the introduction of lights for night racing, refurbished grass tracks, new in-field tunnel and an all-weather synthetic track.

“The projects on the Club’s agenda are very exciting,” said Ramdhani.

“I am looking forward meeting all the stakeholders and getting to know the Gold Coast racing industry as soon as I can.

“I would also like to acknowledge the ATC for their role in supporting my career and have left the ATC in a strong position with their tracks and infrastructure going forward.”

Overseeing the construction of the club’s new all-weather synthetic track will be Ramdhani’s first job in the role, along with a major upgrade to the club’s Traintech training and stabling facility, refurbished Course Proper and B Grass, Tunnel and then finally the installation of lights for night race in 2024.

The GCTC plans to become Australia’s version of the famed Happy Valley in Hong Kong, showcasing the city’s benefits on a global stage with night racing and tourism.

The Club continues to push on for more Metropolitan Race meetings which will be enhanced by the appointment of Ramdhani.
