GCTC gears up for biggest ever Men Matter Raceday
Men’s health charities will be the beneficiaries of almost $200,000 worth of prizes, raffle and auction items at the Gold Coast Turf Club’s third annual Men Matter Raceday this Saturday, July 29.
GCTC Chairman Brett Cook has been the driving force behind the Men’s health raceday, which continues to grow year on year in support of Men’s health charities Livin, Prostate Cancer and The Common Good.
Media personality Karl Stefanovic and rugby league superstar Adam Reynolds are among the special guests attending this year’s event.
The Men Matter Raceday is one of many community fundraisers supported by the GCTC, who raised more than $1 Million for various charities last year.
“We are hoping to raise a record amount of funds for Men’s health this year as well as raise awareness for the men in our life to ‘Man Up’ and get their health checked on a regular basis,” said Cook.
“We know a lot of issues can be stopped in their tracks if we are all more proactive in facing men’s health issues, whether they be physical, mental or any other.”
Leading Gold Coast jockey Noel Callow knows all too well the risks associated with Prostate Cancer after his father was diagnosed with the disease in recent years.
“My dad had kept putting off getting checked but thankfully was diagnosed in time to have successful treatment and he is now in remission,” said Callow.
“Days like the Men Matter Raceday are a great reminder for us all to ‘man up’ and get checked on a regular basis.”
In an intriguing side story heading into the weekend, Callow is locked in a two-way battle with emerging apprentice Bailey Wheeler for the GCTC Jockeys’ Premiership which will be decided on Saturday – the final race meeting of the 2022/23 racing season.
After riding a double last Saturday, Bailey currently leads the premiership standings with 31 winners ahead of Callow on 30 winners.
This year’s Men Matter Raceday promises to be the biggest on record with a myriad of prizes, raffles and auction items headlined by a Skoda Octavia RS Wagon and a Nissan Navara 4×4 ST Utility Dual Cab.
Racegoers will also have the chance to win $2000 as part of the TAB Time Trials – the ultimate jockey experience where racegoers can jump on state-of-the-art horse simulators to race against friends in a timed challenge. The highest scoring punter of the day wins $2,000.
There will also be a barber on course on raceday along with photo booth activations.

Men can receive a 50% discount on general admission tickets purchased prior to 10am on raceday.
