Campton puts stamp on maiden premiership
Emerging young trainer Adam Campton produced a five winner haul to claim his first GCTC Trainer’s Premiership in thrilling fashion on Saturday.
The race for the Gold Coast trainer’s premiership went right down to the wire with Campton and Toby Edmonds locked on 30 winners each heading into the final meeting of the 2023/24 season.
Both recorded winners early in the day to set-up a thrilling finale but it was Campton who prevailed by training the last four winners on the seven-race program to put a stamp on his first ever title.
It has been a significant rise to prominence for Campton in just his second full season as a trainer on the Gold Coast.
It was also a special occasion for Campton’s young apprentice Jace McMurray, who rode three of Campton’s last four winners to continue his outstanding form in the saddle following a double the week prior.
In the Jockey’s premiership, young apprentice Jai Williams was clear standout with 39 victories throughout the season to be well clear on the standings for both Jockey and Apprentice titles.
